How to make a proxy website
So, you want to learn how to create a proxy site, right?
Cool, grab a cup of coffee or tea and let’s see together what you will need in order to get started.
As every website so and a proxy site will need to have a domain name, a hosting account and choose the proxy script that you will install on your proxy site.
Note:
If you want to start a proxy for your own personal use, I would suggest you to register a free domain from .tk or similar and register for a free proxy hosting account from here. Or you can also visit Noiders and get a ready to use proxy site from there.
If on the other hand you are a webmaster that wants to set up a proxy network in order to earn money then for the love of Binary code don’t start building proxy sites on free .tk domains. Don’t get spammy, put quality over quantity, so you can be sure that you not only get new visitors but you keep the number of returning visitors stable.
How to choose a domain name for your proxy website
Important: Do not use the word proxy in the domain.
Why?
Because domains with the word proxy tend to get banned pretty faster than others.
With that said lets continue.
You can also choose to do one of the following:
- Register a brand new domain name
- Register a dropped/deleted/pre-existing domain
If you register a dropped or deleted domain you can get all the linkjuice from the backlinks that the domain plus its pagerank. That’s a typical SEO technique that helps to boost your rankings in SERPs. That might come with a price though. There may be a chance that the domain you chose is already banned by site filers.
If you choose to register a new domain name for your proxy site then you will need to do a bit of research. As I wrote above you shall not register a domain with the word proxy in it. Might be good for SEO to include proxy in the domain but eventually it will get banned from web filters faster than others.
Make sure your new proxy site will be:
- Easy to remember
- Easy to pronounce
- Easy to write it down (short)
- Related to your niche.
- Try to find a name with the word unblock, or bypass etc…
Proxy Tip:
- If you want to create a large proxy network you will better choose .info because of their price.
- If on the other hand you want to establish quality/authority proxy sites it’s better to pick up .com.
Some registrars out there they are offering cheap domains or discount coupons for domain registration.
Other like those they offer free SSL certificates and WhoIs Guard Protection for 1 year.
My preferred registrar who offers both offers those services for free is Namecheap .
How to choose the right proxy hosting service
Proxy sites themselves consume a lot of resources such as ram, cpu usage and bandwidth. That’s why many hosting companies don’t allow proxies to be hosted on their servers and the search for a proxy hosting provider is getting more difficult.
Stability, uptime, performance are the most important.
Shared proxy hosting
It’s the most typical type of proxy hosting solution and the ideal one for hosting your first proxy sites. It’s the cheaper solution among VPS and Dedicated servers.
VPS proxy hosting
If your plan is to create a small proxy network then VPS is the right option. It’s in between a shared hosting and a dedicated server.. You get more resources for your proxy sites and keep the cost low.
Dedicated proxy hosting
I would suggest you to get a dedicated server ONLY if it’s really needed. If you have more than 30-40 proxy sites that get constantly around 2000 visits/day, then yes it will make perfect sense to get a dedicated server.
Which proxy script shall I use?
There are not a lot proxy scripts out there but here we will mention the most well known proxy scripts ,which are
Glype Proxy Script
Glype is the most famous proxy script, it is easy to install and use. It doesn’t use that much of resources compared to the other scripts. It requires php5 and CURL installed and enabled.

PHProxy Proxy Script
PHProxy was very famous back to it days until Glype came up. Still up till now many webmasters create proxy sites with PHProxy. One of the main reasons behind that is simplicity of the script. Unfortunately the development has been stopped. It requires php4 or higher and CURL to be installed and enabled.

CGI proxy script
CGI written in Perl instead of PHP is supposed to be the most efficient proxy script. Unfortunately that comes with some limitations when it comes to support, plugins and styling.

Note that each script has different options and set ups but in the very end they all do the same job.
Sounds easy, doesn’t it? Well it does because it is!
